VIBRES-system (Maintenance Technology of Ground Anchors)

Measurement technology of residual tensile load of ground anchor by vibration method (Japanese Patent No. 6283439)

Outline

Lightweight, compact measurement unit enables efficient measurement of ground anchor tensile load.

Configuration of the measuring equipment
(example of VSL E5-3)

Measurement operations using VIBRES-system employ a compact, easily portable measurement unit housed in a 30 cm × 45 cm portable case. By connecting the measurement unit to the vibrator and accelerometer attached to the extra part, the measurements can be started immediately. Conventional lift-off test sometimes requires a temporary scaffold, safety equipment and typically requires time and costs. On the other hand, VIBRES-system can evaluate residual tensile load of anchors without the temporary and large equipment. Therefore, the VIBRES system can reduce the time required for measurement tasks.
Moreover, by connecting to the laptop installed with analysis software, can confirm the measurement result on site.

VIBRES-system is based on technology jointly developed by Our company, OYO corporation, Gifu University.

Workflow

Reduced measurement time through efficient work process
(1) Give vibration for anchor by a small vibrator and read a frequency in accelerometers
(2) Measure a waveform with the measurement unit
(3) Display an analysis result on laptop

Accuracy of estimated tensile load

The relationship between residual tensile loads estimated from the vibration method (P) and measured by the lift-off test (Pe) is approximately 1:1, and the error of P with respect to Pe is within ±15% at most.
We have confirmed that there is no difference in the evaluation of the two methods even under the residual strength evaluation criteria specified in the Japanese Ground Anchor Maintenance Manual.
